SPLOOSH TUESDAY (Issue 6)

Hello, and welcome to another wholesome edition of Sploosh Tuesday (it's still Tuesday SOMEWHERE< right?!), the slipperiest nuggets of excitement happening over at Horror Kitsch Bitch headquarters (read: my loungeroom, bed, local coffee shop, uni and/or work lunchroom).

Hot off the press! Ok, so maybe they've been working on it a while. But, the FAT ACTIVISM  VIRTUAL CONFERENCE is happening this weekend!

I'm pretty darn excited to be participating, and hearing incredible speakers like Virgie Tovar and Jes Baker. They just emailed saying they were now accepting questions for the panels. I have too many!!

I think you can still register, it's only $39 OR you can just pay what you can. Which is amazing. I'm not sure exactly how it's going to operate, but i'm so confident it'll be incredible. My phone will be off this weekend. Ok, not really, that's impossible. But metaphorically speaking, IT WILL BE DEAD TO ME.

If you love Modcloth as much as me, you'll know that they have some pretty bangin' plus-size models. Yes, they could do even more to promote body diversity, but you know what else they've done that's amazing?

They've signed a pledge to NOT USE PHOTOSHOP in any of their advertising material. On the rare occasion that they do, they are going to specify that it has been altered. This is a self-imposed pledge, I don't think there will be in policing of it. But you know what? I'm gonna trust them. I'm an innocent til proven guilty kinda gal. And if it's guilty, KILL DEM ALL. *

Morbid, but mind-boggling... in the Victorian Era, it was a tradition for people to have photos taken with their deceased ones, or to memorialise them. In some cases (like with babies), it was the only way they would get to have a family photo taken together.

I have been learning cool things in my new uni course, and one of my subjects brought to my attention The Johnny Cash project. Basically, somebody has created a live-action music video for the song "Ain't No Grave" which was released after his death, and through this project you can go online and claim a still frame from the video. You then recreate that frame in any medium you like, and submit it to the project. Eventually, all of the frames will be connected and we will have incredibly amazing memorial music video for a many who changed lives.

My LAST OOTD With Dreads!

I wanted to do this OOTD post because A) I felt super cute in this outfit, and B) because it will be my last post with dreads for quite some time! I'm currently in the final stages of brushing them out, and feeling really fricken nervous, a bit excited, and rather nostalgic for all the dreadfully good times.

But I digress, please don't stress, my hair's a mess, but here's my dress! <3

This belt buckle is official merch of one of my favourite bands - CLUTCH - and it's kind of a random choice for this outfit but I love how it makes all the yellow in the dress pop.

So, I have 11 dreads left to brush out. I've so far spent 27 hours, and lost this much hair. Approximately 11 hours left to go. Eeeeeeee!

You Make Me Feel Like a Natural... CAT LADY! (Aussie Curves)

I feel a bit disappointed that my blogging life at present is only Aussie Curves challenges. But hey, they're really fun themes, so I can't complain! This week is "Nature", and you know what's a part of nature? Animals! And you know which is the best animal? CATS! So you know which is the best dress? My Hooked on a Feline dress from Modcloth! (Sorry ya'll, it's heaps sold out)

My gay lover Sam and I had approximately 5 mins to do these photos, because life is CUHRAZY BUSAY right now. We didn't even have time to try and find real nature to get natural in! A florist counts, right?

A Roadside Attraction Wedding (Aussie Curves)

This week's #aussiecurves challenge was titled “wedding”, and since i've never considered what I might possibly wear in the unlikely event of an emergency marriage, I decided to interpret this as “wedding guest”. I think that's allowed. And it suits me perfectly because I did actually buy this awesome l'il dress to wear to my friend's wedding a few weeks ago. Since it was the day after my birthday, and an hour and a half out of the city, there was no shot in hell of getting up early enough to take photos, which was a bummer because I still need to write a (glowing) Modcloth review of it!

Today I was feeling especially flat (and particularly unphotogenic – as even Sam agreed). But despite the trials and tribulations of being a fat fab gal in the big city, we scoffed chicken parmas for lunch and skulked off in search of an unused alley for posing and prancing in. Urban wedding, yah?

Before I go, I must say: I am TREMENDOUSLY excited for Sunday. I'd kind of been thinking about what to wear, and then last weekend I read a couple of blogs about people freaking out about what to wear, so then I spent the WHOLE WEEK freaking out about what to wear!! MEEP! I've settled on a really gorgeous vintage dress that's been in the back of my wardrobe for ages because it is really hard to accessorise. I think i've done good, but there's been no test run of yet. We shall see! EEEEEEE! >.<
